Opportunities are everywhere, my friends. They are constantly appearing, often disguised as challenges, problems, or situations that seem inconvenient. The key is to set your mindset right, see with clarity, and position yourself to seize them. This is the principle I live by as an Ambassador Of Safety And Intentional Encourager , founder of Africa Youth Rescue Initiative , Nairobi Safety House , and Makinika Afrika Intl and as someone who has dedicated his life to inspiring, mentoring, and guiding young people to Arise and pursue their God-given purpose.
From Research to Revenue: How Knowledge Pays
In January 2020, I heard about the Corona Virus. While many were anxious, I saw an opportunity to serve, prepare, and impact lives. I conducted thorough research, wrote articles and blogs, and positioned myself as a credible voice in the media. Within three months, almost every major media station in Kenya invited me for interviews. I was sharing insights that I had gathered through research—and yes, knowledge pays. Each sensitization session, lasting just 3–4 minutes of on-air time, earned me on average Ksh 25,000. Sometimes I had one or two sessions per day, often booked by multinationals and parastatals.
But it didn’t stop there. I had stocked dozens of 3M, KN95, and 3-ply masks, sanitizers, and face shields before the rush. This preparation turned into an incredible opportunity: expatriates and international buyers started calling for advice. One notable moment was a call from China, requesting all the 3M masks I had—which led to exports. Within months, the revenue allowed me to build my first home in Nairobi. Corona turned a tenant into a landlord, and it all started with vision, preparation, and action.
Mindset is Everything
Opportunities often look unpleasant at first glance. Floods, traffic, jobless energetic youth, struggles in school kitchens with huge Mwikos, or even a pandemic—these are all doors to possibilities. It is up to you to see them. Are you seeing a problem, or are you seeing a chance to innovate, serve, and create wealth? The greatest achievers in the world develop the Art of Effective Thinking. They position themselves, take steps forward, and refuse to remain passive.
I am currently researching a technology to cook huge Ugali within minutes in schools, solving a real problem for cooks and students alike. This is just one example of seeing beyond the challenge to the opportunity. What opportunities are you seeing around you today? Floods, unemployment, elections, business gaps, social needs—every situation can be transformed if you faith up, think big, and act boldly.
From Volunteer to Voice, From Economist to Safety Advocate
I studied Economics, volunteered with Kenya Red Cross and St John Ambulance, and through volunteering, secured a meaningful job that sparked a journey of impact. Today, I lead multiple companies in the field of Safety and Health, including Nairobi Safety Shop, Makinika Afrika International, and serve as an Ambassador of Safety and Intentional Encourager.
I am also a published author of 14 books, with two focused on safety, and a NEBOSH HSE Leadership Excellence Certified professional. From starting as a job-seeking economist to becoming a consultant, trainer, and voice in safety and health, my journey shows the power of mindset, knowledge, and positioning.

Life will test you, challenge you, and present obstacles. But remember: the people who know their God shall be mighty and do exploits. Change your mindset. Step out of your comfort zone. See the opportunities others miss. Faith up! Nothing is impossible to the go-getters.
