THE POWER OF A MOTIVATED AND INSPIRED MIND

I remember very well after completing my primary school education at Kamurunyu primary school and terribly failing in my KCPE, I only got one secondary school admission form to Jemus academy but my parents could not raise the fees. In March 1998 a neighbor called Baba Kaiba talked to Mt Gatimu and I was admitted though a bit late and that is how I got my admission to Bavuni. In Form one first term I was number 38 out of 38, and in third term I was 37 out of 39 and one of the person I defeated was a lady who after siting for one exam suffered a miscarriage and did not continue with the other exams. I remember scoring 16% in biology, 0% in physics, 8% mathematics etc.

In the year 1999 in form two I started moving around with a bad company because of low self esteem and that is where my life changed to a bad boy. I was expelled from the school after many days of thorough beating from Mr Gatimu, Warutumo and Muira. The entrance from the gate to the parade ground was leveled by us and the team such as the late Njogu Kariithi, Bomblast, Magondu, Mbugua Elshaddai and others as part of the weekly purnishment. That is how I dropped out of school.

From the year 2000 to 2003 I was in Nakuru town in the streets and I was peddling drugs from Mariguini, Mombasa, kwa Amos to Nakuru town. Many are the times that we were involved in criminal activities such as robbery and others I won’t mention here, Friends like Majizee and Kajini can attest to this. In 2004 I went back to school after being encouraged and inspired by friends and am glad Anestar School allowed me to join form two after failing my KCPE Exam, being always the last student in Bavuni, intoxicating my mind with drugs and crime in the street life and four years later being allowed to join the school without even interview. God bless the Gatimus. By God’s grace I completed my secondary school education in 2006, scored A-(74) and I was the fourth best student in the school that year. It is the power of a motivated and inspired mind. Change of a mindset and desire to excel.

Today am a motivational speaker, Ambassador of Safety, One of the leading Health and Safety Advisors in the Country and a businessman in Nairobi. I have written a number of books, received a number of awards and taken dozens of flights to different destinations.

Those young men in the village who look lost and confused can amount to something. They have a great destiny if mentored, inspired, encouraged, supported and prayed for and so I urge you my friends let us look at our neighborhoods and consider giving a word of hope to the young boys and girls.
